SCAA Board of Directors

Serving on the SCAA Board of Directors is a voluntary position and involves supporting the multifamily housing industry through the growth of the Association. Service includes participation in Board Meetings, attending association meetings and events, participating as a committee member, encouraging participation in membership activities, and promoting new membership, among other duties.

Member engagement is critical to the success of the association, and the Board relies upon your recommendations for strong candidates.

For the 2024 Board of Directors, the Nominating Committee is seeking nominees for several vacant positions (outlined below). The Committee will meet after July 31, 2023, to develop the final slate of candidates for election.

Please review the vacancies, application information, and qualification requirements outlined below. SCAA members in good standing that meet the qualifications are eligible to be considered for any open Board position. All candidates selected to serve by the Nominating Committee will be slated for approval by the membership in October.

Nomination Process

The Nominating Committee encourages SCAA members to recommend qualified individuals for nomination to elective offices. This is an anonymous process and self-nominations are welcomed and encouraged!

Nomination Forms must be submitted no later than July 31, 2023.

Role Descriptions 

Executive Committee-

  • Secretary-The secretary shall be responsible for keeping records of board actions, including overseeing the taking of minutes at all board meetings, sending out meeting announcements, distributing copies of minutes and the agenda to each board member, and assuring that corporate records are maintained. Such duties of the Secretary as may be specified by the Board of Directors may be delegated to the Executive Vice President/Executive Director or a designated member of the Association Staff.

  • Treasurer-The treasurer shall make a report at each board meeting. The treasurer shall make financial information available to board members and the public. Such duties of the Treasurer as may be specified by the Board of Directors may be delegated to the Executive Vice President/Executive Director.

  • Vice President-The Vice President shall perform all the duties of the President during his absence or disability and such other duties as the President assigns. This office shall also oversee those committees as determined by the Executive Committee and approved by the Board of Directors. 

Director Opening - Board of Directors-

  • Directors shall control and manage the property and assets of the SCAA, the appropriation of funds, and shall authorize all contracts and expenditures of the SCAA. Directors are elected by the membership if they continue to remain members in good standing. Four (4) of the ten (10) directors shall be Associate/Supplier members. These Associate members shall have voting rights and may not ascend or attain higher office other than the Associate Vice President.
